M.A.M.E. Section Updated:
The M.A.M.E. section got a face-lift to match the rest of site. During this process, I also started carrying PMAME and AMAME (the Pentium and AMD optimized versions of MAME). Also, the sound samples for MAME are now located in the M.A.M.E. page as opposed to having their own section. Finally, the game listing with screen shots have been moved off the M.A.M.E. page and have a page of their own (the page was just too big with every game listed). Click on the Supported Games link at the top of the M.A.M.E. page to review the emulated games and see screen shots for each.

Ultimate Patches Cheats Updated:
The MAME cheat file by the Ultimate Patches has been updated to version 5.3e. It includes codes for most of the TMS34010 games and Mercs as well as unlimited credits for Marble Madness and Peter Pak-Rat.

Retrocade v1.1 RC1 Released:
The Retrocade v1.1 release candidate 1 was released to the beta testers. If it's stable, expect a public release of Retrocade v1.1 very soon. I'll post any possible release information as soon as it becomes available.

New Zaxxon Samples:
New Zaxxon samples for MAME have been released. These samples don't give additional sound effects, they're just clearer than then old ones. Download it from the above link.

1,000,000th Visitor!
Arcade@Home celebrated its 1,000,000th visitor yesterday! This was a goal I thought for a long time wouldn't be obtainable. But, thanks to all of you, we made this happen. I'd like to send out a personal thank you to everyone who has visited!

MAME to add Pole Position!
That's right! Probably one of the most requested games is finally close to being emulated. While it doesn't work yet, the author is hopeful it will will be playable shortly. Don't expect Pole Position in the next release of MAME, however. Also, because Pole Position 2 uses the same CPU, I'd expect it to also be released shortly thereafter.

Screen Shot Updates for Arcade@Home:
The screen shot updates for Arcade@Home are now available. They include all new games in MAME v0.34 beta 6 and 7. The delay in getting these out is due to the large size and availabiliy of the Neo-Geo files. I can only post these updates when I have the pictures myself. Besides, you can always hit the F12 key to create your own. Download these files from the Front-Ends page.

Tuesday, November 17th, 1998
Retrocade v1.1 Release Candidate:
A release candidate for Retrocade v1.1 should be released within the next couple of days. It's also been reported that Bosconian will be added to Retrocade v1.1.

On-Line Screen Shots Updated:
I've updated the on-line screen shots to include the newest MAME releases. If you notice, there are still a few Neo-Geo pics missing. If you have or can create screen shots for these missing games, please e-mail me. Please don't attach the screen shot(s) until I reply back that I still need it. Once I get the complete set of screen shots, I can also release the screen shot update for the Arcade@Home front-end.

ArcadeOS Front-End Updated:
The ArcadeOS front-end (formally called MENU) has been updated. This DOS front-end is written by Brian Lewis and it's main features are that it supports vertical monitor orientation as well as the ability to run at an arcade monitor scan rate.

Do Your Part To Support Emulation:
Follow the above link and the simple instructions to send the IDSA the message that emulation is not hurting the game companies it represents (it may actually be helping them). With your support, hopefully emulation and the IDSA can get along in the future.

Star Wars Yokes and Spinners!
Are you ready for the ultimate controllers? Well, if you've been looking for a controller that allows you to play Star Wars to it's fullest, or looking for a spinner for Tempest and Arkanoid look no further! Twisty-Grip and Twisty-Spin have been released and they will completely change your gaming experience. To read all the details, see pics, costs, and where to order, check out the title link. You just can't pass this by.

Screen Shots for All Games On-Line:
Now, on the M.A.M.E. section, you can view screen shots for almost all MAME games on-line! I've just got a few more to add, but figured I'd release it now for your enjoyment. The remaining screen shots will be on-line shortly.

MAME Adds Empire Strikes Back:
This has been a highly requested game, and it seems like it may make it into the next release of MAME. It still doesn't work, but Brad Oliver is getting close. Also, Neo Drift Out's problem with scaling will be fixed in the next release, as will other Neo-Geo scaling problems.

New Visitor Record Again Yesterday:
Another record was broken yesterday, 12,313 visitors. Now that Dave's Classics is back up, it'll be hard to beat this record!

Breaking News on Dave's Classics:
Breaking news: Dave's Video Game Classics will be back up tonight, minus the ROMs! This is the official word. NEW NEWS: the site will NOT be opening this evening, expect it to open tomorrow sometime. This is new official information...

Trim-It Automatically Trims ROMs:
The Trim-It tool will automatically trim your Neo-Geo ROMs to the correct length! No need to do ANYTHING but extract and run! Ran for me in 3 minutes and saved me 7MB hard drive space (besides fixing all the Neo-Geo games). Download it from the M.A.M.E. section.

900,000th Visitor:
Yesterday, Arcade@Home had 12,171 visitors which was enough to take it over the 900,000 visitor mark. Welcome to all of Dave's lost souls.

MAME v0.34 Beta 7 Released!
MAME v0.34 beta 7 has been released. This version adds the 34010 CPU emulation which adds support for games like Mortal Kombat, Narc & Smash TV. Download it from the M.A.M.E. section.

Web Space Needed:
Now's your chance to help support Arcade@Home. I'm looking for someone with a fast connection that's interested in serving some files. I'd also need FTP access to this server so I could do the file updates. If you're a business and would like to donate bandwidth, I could also provide free advertising in exchange (6,748 visitors just yesterday).

Custom Built Cocktail Cabinet:
"Stranger" custom built his own cocktail cabinet and stuck a PC running MAME inside. Check out pics and details about his "Markade" on the Cabinet Pics section.

Broke a New Record Yesterday:
Arcade@Home broke a new record yesterday for the number of visitors on a single day: 6,748! Today, with Dave's site being down, we'll probably break yet another record. Welcome to all new visitors.

MAME Neo-Geo News:
For those who have been wondering about the Neo-Geo games that have missing, bad, or incorrect sounds, the MAME team have determined that many ROM sets have bad sound dumps. The list of games that will need to be re-dumped are:
Aero Fighters 3 (Sonic Wings 3), Fatal Fury 3, Magical Drop 3, Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Neo Bomberman, Ninja Masters, Operation Ragnagard, Overtop, Pulstar, Pulstar 2 (Blazing Star), Real Bout Fatal Fury 1, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, Samurai Shodown 3, Samurai Shodown 4, Shock Troopers, The King of Fighters '95, The King of Fighters '96, The King of Fighters '97, Twinkle Star Sprites, Waku Waku 7, and World Heroes Perfect.
Therefore, until these games have their sound ROMs re-dumped, they will not have correct sound or will have no sound at all. When good ROM sets become available, I'll let you know.

MAME TMS34010 News:
MAME will support the following TMS34010 cpu games in the next release of MAME: Hi Impact Football, Super Hi Impact Football, Mortal Kombat, Narc, Smash Tv, Strike Force, Total Carnage & Trog. While these games are all playable and have correct colors and sound, they are very slow on all but the fastest computers. This is because the TMS34010 processor is a very fast chip (not like the classic arcade cpus). Also, Mortal Kombat 2, NBA Jam & T2 Arcade are not yet playable, but are still being worked on and may be included by the next release as well.
