Want to Help out Arcade@Home?
Have you ever wanted to know how to help out Arcade@Home? Well, I've
made special arrangements with Fortune City to not only advertise for
them, but to also ask you to sign up for their free web services.
Normally, it's frowned upon to ask visitors to click on banners. For
this reason, I've never done this at Arcade@Home. However, this
arrangement is different in that they want me to ask everyone to
click on their banner and sign up. Just click on the small Fortune City
banner next to the "What's New" title. Make sure you complete the play
and actually sign up for a free account for me to get credit. Thanks!
New Console Site (EmuSphere):
A new emulation site opened a few days ago called EmuSphere. It
specializes in console emulation and is run by an associate of mine.
Check it out.
Site Updates?
Sorry for the lack of site updates. With all of the holiday activities,
I've had little time. Nothing has really happened the last few days
having to do with arcade emulation, so nothing was missed. I do know
that Bob from Arcade Emulation is uploading another of the updated
Neo-Geo ROMs that fixes the sound problems. Keep checking back, it'll
be up shortly.

Small Site Changes:
I made some small changes to the site's look and feel yesterday. The
goal was to increase the space on the main frame, reduce the number of
frames, and to speed up the download time. To accomplish this, I did
need to go with a new logo image (I hope you like it). I also hope
that the changes make a more enjoyable visit. Please give feedback if
something doesn't work.

More Retrocade News:
Neil Bradley posted another message that stated the following: "I
added in 2151 support last night, and now Blasteroids has sound! This
paves the way for the System 1 games as you may have seen on the various
news services. I need to add scrolling layer support to Retrocade's core
(which it currently does not have), and once that happens, it's Toobin'
time! That's the most difficult of the 3 layer scrollers, so
if that works well, the others will be easier (Well, at least Marble
Madness)."

Retrocade News:
Neil Bradley reported today that he's working on the next version of
Retrocade. To quote his e-mail: "Space Invaders now has kickass sound,
Several bugs fixed so far, Added Mario Brothers, Brian Stern is working
on an 8039 emulator which will bring sound to Donkey Kong, DK Jr., and
Mario Brothers, Brian Peek is working on the Win32 port, I've added
2151 emulation so now Blasteroids will have voice (and make way for
newer Atari games such as Gauntlet, Toobin' and Marble Madness). I'm
also working on the C based 6502 core as well so that the Mac side of
things can be happy."

Flatland: Easy 3D Publishing for the Web:
This is not emulation related, but I thought it was so cool I formed
a partnership with them. It's called Flatland Rover. It's a free
plug-in that lets you surf the net in 3D. You're probably saying,
"Isn't that called VRML?". No, it's much better because it allows you
to create these 3D web sites (called spots) using a simple HTML type
text based language. What makes creating these 3DML spots even easier
is their great online tutor on their web site. Finally, the plug-in is
not some huge 10MB file (like VRML can be) it's only about 700K. I'm
so excited about this new technology that I'm creating a 3DML spot for
Arcade@Home! Download Flatland Rover now to be ready for Arcade@Home's
new look.

Changes to Site:
I made some changes to the site today (the ads were getting difficult
to manage on so many pages). I'm still not happy with the amount of
window space the ads take up and I'll be working on making this work
better in the next few days. If anyone is not seeing the ads, gets an
error, or wants to make a comment, please e-mail me with the details
(OS, broswer, version, error code, etc.).
Gorf and Red Baron Sound Samples Updated:
Radioman sent me an e-mail that he's created new sound sample sets for
Gorf and Red Baron that includes ALL missing samples. Download them
from the M.A.M.E. section.
