next millennium ;-)

ngine-Snes9x v0.30 Released
ngine-Snes9x is a new Nintendo SNES emulator for the Dreamcast. It's slow and requires the use of a command line interface,
but runs most games. Here's a list of some of the skills you will need and what it will do:
- At least a bit of experience with Command line usage
- patience (snes9x does not run full speed, yet, see future improvements section for details)
- most games that snes9x supports are also working in ngine.
- command line interface (see how to use section)
- joypad control for snes9x and menu (see how to use section)
Download it from the Console Emulator section.

z26 v1.41 Released
The Atari 2600 emulator for DOS, z26, has been updated to v1.41. Here's what's new:
- We now support the Compumate ROM. If you're into primitive cool programming environments this is the ultimate. It gives the 2600 a real version of BASIC, with a real typewriter style keyboard and a text display. Hopefully the ROM image and documentation shows up on the net soon. If they haven't already.
- Video Pinball now plays properly!!!! The holy grail of 2600 emulation has finally been achieved. Yep, the ball actually bounces off the paddle now. That such a simple game should have proved to be so difficult completely amazed me.
- The mindlink controller is now supported so the new Telepathy ROM and the old Mindlink game now play. It is supported as a paddle controller so you can use the mouse.
- Removed the automatic screen positioning code. It turns out that the cure was worse than the disease I think. So the newly released Yahtzee ROM no longer jitters. We still automatically switch to PAL mode when needed though.
- Thanks to Eckhard Stolberg for doing most of the work on this release.

This bug affected all Windows 2000 machines, and some Windows 98/ME machines, and possibly a few Windows 95 machines. If you continue to have problems, please email the author.

Christmas Present
A few days ago, I mentioned that my wife got me something really cool for Christmas. Well, here it is. It's a 3 foot by
3 foot custom made neon sign of the Arcade@Home logo. It will be proudly added to my arcade game room. I've also changed
the Arcade@Home logo (upper left corner) to the real neon sign (probably just temporarily). To see a close-up of the sign,
click on the above link.
U64Emu v1.18 Released
The arcade Killer Instinct emulator (U64Emu) has been updated to v1.18. Here's what's new:
- Frame Skip should now enable and disable correctly.
- All around speed up.
- Scanlines now use a different technique. I like this approach more and it is only twice as fast as the previous method. There is little to no speed decrease with this method.
- There may be yet another timing issue in this release, the AI just seems really, really good... dunno... try it. :)
- Credit problem is _not_ fixed. If i don't find it soon, I do have a work around. The 'SERV' or service button does actually work... I think this will work ok for most everyone.
Download it from the Arcade Emulator section.

ZSNES v1.17 Released
The best Nintendo SNES emulator has been updated to v1.17. Here's what's new:
- Added slow-down key. You can configure it in Misc -> Game Keys
- Invulnerability bug of the 3rd boss in Demon's Crest in the good checksum roms is fixed through rom mirroring I also noticed that this fix is the same as what the author of SNEeSe told me before about on some MegamanX1 roms, but I never had that rom so I never added this until now. Guess that rom is also fixed too.
- Changed memory initialization values - Lost Viking 2 works again
- 65816: Fixed WAI instruction timing with HIRQ's. Top Gear 2 - 2 player mode works now
- Improved IRQ re-execution timing precision
- Starfox 2 beta now runs with sound!
- Fixed flickering problem in Starfox 2 beta
- Added Mode 2 16x16 tile offset per tile mode
- (Win32) Improved the timestamps on UDP headers. This should (hopefully) solve those out of sync (where both sides see different things) problems with certain connections (ie. T1/LAN connections) in netplay.
- (Win32) Added a big notice in netplay.txt. For all of you who used netplay and had poor experiences with a ping time of less than 300ms, read it! Also added a more realistic system requirements description for decent netplay in netplay.txt rather than a cpu speed estimate.
- Changed reverse stereo method to become invisible to the sound registers in emulation
Download it from the Console Emulator section.
IntvDOS/IntvWin v1.0a Released
The author of PCAE has released a new emulator for the Intellivision! Version 1.0 was released then v1.0a was released
shortly thereafter because of a bug that caused it to fail. Here's what's included:
Features of IntvDOS and IntvWin 1.0a:
- Fixed a teensy (but fatal) bug that was affecting most users by giving "file not found" errors
Features of IntvDOS 1.0:
- Based on PCAE 2.5
- Built-in game menu allows easy selection of games
- Integrated debugger that makes creating NEW Intellivision games easier
- Supports Entertainment Computer System (ECS), including cassette and printer interfaces
- Supports Intellivoice (requires separate 2k IVOICE.BIN file, not supplied)
- Screen capture to Windows .BMP or JPEG files
- Save video to compressed .AVI file
- Can load IntvPC save states
- Gravis GrIP controller support
- MS Sidewinder controller support
- Supports up to two Intv2PC Hand Controller Interfaces for four-player ECS games
- And more!
Features of IntvWin 1.0:
- Based on PCAEWin 2.5
- All the features of the DOS version
- DirectX controller and keyboard support
- Supports front, side, and rear box scans, and cart scans, in either .BMP or .JPG format
- Supports game manuals in either .TXT or .RTF format
- Emulates most of the original Intellivision Keyboard Component (requires separate 6502.BIN, KBDALPHA.BIN, and KBDC.BIN files, not supplied). Cassette and printer interfaces aren't emulated yet, so Intellivision BASIC is probably the only thing runnable at this point. BASIC requires a separate KBDBASIC.BIN file, not supplied.
- Dual CP1600 and 6502 debuggers for Keyboard Component debugging
- And much more!
Download it from the Console Emulator section.

U64Emu v1.17 Released
The arcade Killer Instinct emulator U64Emu (Kiame) has been updated to v1.17. Here's what's new:
- Frame Skip is now disabled by default. Enable it if you have a slow computer. If your computer is medium, you are best _without_ frame skip, as the overhead for skipping consumes cycles. Thus if you get anything north of 45Hz without frame skip then leave it off.
- The Up and Left (or whichever) problems should be fixed with whatever input devices were causing the problems. I've yet to verify the bug, so i can't be sure it is fixed, but i did discover a likely problem area.
- The command line parameter -auto (all lower case) will launch the game without further ado.
- There are random crashes and some fatals still don't work.
- Some new keys are mapped. F7,F8,F9 and F10 are Coin1,Coin2,Coin3 and Coin4. Someone wanted the coin triggers mapped for some reason... so that is it.
- The Test Mode button (key '2') has been moved to F11. Hopefully F11 is not hardwired to something on the HotRod as well. ;)
- An attempt is made to have DirectDraw create surfaces in 'driver optimal memory'. Hopefully, this will result in a speed up on older cards that lack the ability to transfer quickly to and from video memory. In addition, this could, possibly, fix the full screen problems that some video cards (ATI) have.
Download it from the Arcade Emulator section.

Boob!boy v1.5 Released
The Nintendo GameBoy emulator for the Sega Dreamcast, Boob!boy, has been updated to v1.5. This version adds the following:
- Frameskip implemented - Boob!boy should now be faster with only a small amount of frameskipping noticeable. For example, Super Mario Land without doubt now runs at FULL SPEED.
- Super Gameboy Support added. You can now play games such as Pokemon Red, if you really want to.
- Fixed a memory problem that meant memory wasn't being freed up after the game was exited and hence when you had played 4/5 games the dc would run out of memory and crash. You should now be able to play as many different games as you want without having to reset the dc!
- Swapped around A and B keys to make it more like a real gameboy!
- New menus - a license screen is now displayed explaining that Boob!boy is not licensed or endorsed by Sega. Also a menu screen has been implemented which currently only features a "Play game" option... (pretty pointless at the moment then - just press start to skip past this menu!)
- Made game-select screen more user-friendly by speeding up page-select and game-select movements
- Fixed bug causing a delay before loading the game to be played
- Implemented load-from-file functions, saving much-needed memory... this also has resulted in a speed-up in the emulation since Video Ram can now be used for more important tasks!
- Found and "zapped" other little bugs in the code, which although didn't cause any problems in current versions would have done so in the future.
Download it from the Console Emulators section.

Gore Concedes!
For the second time, Gore concedes. And this time he promises not to take it back. I'm glad it's all over, finally after
5 weeks of holding ballots up to the light, looking at them under a magnifying glass, etc. Also, let the record show that
EVERY ballot in Florida was counted twice, many were counted upwards of 6 times. So, can we please never repeat the phrase
"count every vote"? I'm sick to death of that untrue statement. Anyway, you can discuss this on our Current Affairs forum
at the above link.
New Vice President Selected!
In a surprise move from the George W. Bush camp, I have been chosen to replace Dick Cheney as the next Vice President.
Because of his failing health and the Democrats challenging his residency in Texas (which would not allow him to become
Vice President) a new Vice President has been selected. I will address the nation this evening about my appointment.
Gore Dropping Out of Race
It seems that it's finally over for Al Gore and his hopes to become the next President. His concession speech is expected
this evening in his address to the nation. Discuss this in our Current Affairs forum at the above link.

Old 8-bit Video Games
Slashdot decided to link directly and leech a 7MB file from my server. By the time I found out I was "slashdotted", about
800 people were downloading it at the same time. Needless to say, 800 simultaneous downloads of a 7MB file saturated the
dedicated 10Mbps connection that the html/domain server is running on (normally it hovers around 50% bandwidth usage).
I've now corrected the server so Slashdot can't leech files directly from my server =) Anyway, the file they were leeching
was that cool Atari 2600 animation I posted a few months ago that included that Matrix type scene in it. If you're coming
from Slashdot or didn't see the video before, it's at the above link. In more thing, leeching is bad. Bad Slashdot, bad! =)
