Server Update
I was bored today so I doubled the bandwidth available to Arcade@Home. If you experienced a short outage, that's when I was messing with the network card. Anyway, things are running really well now, I think I'll double the RAM next.

Emuverse Closes
Emuverse was a cool emulation news site that allowed visitors to contribute news stories and allowed visitors to customize their news page. However, they have now closed their doors. Basically (as most mature gamers know) all the good consoles and games are already emulated and the only new games being emulated these days are 2,000 variations of the same cookie-cutter fighting game. Anyway, Emuverse has closed because of the loss in interest in these dime-a-dozen games. You can read their final words at the above link.

New Pinball Section
I decided to add a pinball emulation/simulation section. I'm not done with the section yet (still need to add screen shots and the pinball ROMs) but it's a good start. If you haven't tried Visual Pinball before, you're in for a treat. Not only is it a pinball simulator, it also allows you to design pinball tables. Very well done and gives a truly realistic gameplay. Check it out at the above link.

JAE Tetris Emulator
The on-line Java arcade emulator JAE now supports Atari's 1988 hit Tetris.
The emulator does not perfectly emulate all of the graphics, because the Tetris machine used a dynamic color pallette. To compensate for this, a real-time emulation of Atari's famous "Pokey" sound chip was added, so that you can listen to the cool russian-style tunes, that Tetris plays with its two Pokey chips.
You can play it on-line at the above link.

ClrMamePro v2.30 Released
The MAME ROM manager ClrMamePro was updated to v2.30. Here's what you get in this release:
  • misc: major changes to the profiles: You can now have datfile subfolders to sort your datfiles in groups. The profiler shows the subfolders in a treestructure. Loading, updating deleting hasn't changed. If you want to sort your existing datfiles in subfolders you have to create the exact same subfolder strutures in the "settings" folders. You don't have to edit the old settingsfiles ! So when you add a folder \datfiles\good\ you have to add a folder \settings\good\ as well. Don't forget to move the corresponding settingsfiles to that subfolder as well.
  • misc: profiler doesn't show exebased dats for in the "update" list anymore
  • added: registry key to allow multiple instances of ClrMamePro (absolutely NOT recommended)

Red Neck Pacifier
My wife sent me the above picture. Almost makes me want to have another kid just so I can get one of these pacifiers. Maybe the wifey was trying to tell me she wanted another kid by sending me this? I'll put on my hillbilly teeth and see if that was the underlying message she was trying to send.

More CPS2Shock Lameness
As if the CPS2Shock lamness wasn't bad enough already, it's now reached a new level. Now they're claiming that they just closed to find some kind of rat from within their circle of "friends". Whatever. Anyone with half a brain knows they couldn't take the heat so they quit, then they couldn't take the heat of closing and stand by that decision either, so they re-opened and blamed it again on some stupid forums or chat room lameness or whatever. What won't change is no matter if it's open or closed, CPS2 games will always be lame. So it makes little difference either way.

Pergola?
I was busy building a Pergola for my wife the last few days so haven't had time to update the site. What's a pergola? Think of like a gazabo and arbor that's about 14'x16' and attached to the house. Here's a similar looking pergola I found on the web: Grand Pergola. Anyway, now that the structure is up, how about some updates.

Editorial by MD
Here's our first editorial written by MD:
What a shame. Terrorists are getting what they want---terrorized Americans. The threat of getting Anthrax is very minimal. I heard an expert on one of the news shows claim that an individual has a better chance of getting hit by lightning than contracting Anthrax. I think that the media is making too big a deal about "Anthrax" Lets all take a deep breath and consider what we can do to protect ourselves against the "psychological terror" being waged against us.
Staff reply: I would go as far as saying that the media is terrorizing US citizens at this point. One person has died and 3 people (including the 7 month old child reported on this evening) are infected with anthrax. Other people that have "tested positive" don't really have anthrax, just an anthrax spore has been found on them (there's a huge difference). With only one person dead the media is truly making this a larger deal than it really is. A plane was grounded for 3 hours today to investigate a "white powder" in a strange container. It ended up being salt in a salt shaker. Get a clue people! Just yesterday, there was one death and 3 injuries (the same number of victims as anthrax) in tornados that hit Alabama and Florida and you probably didn't even hear about that. Even worse, 21 people died from Hurricane Iris just a few days ago and where was all the news on this? Just looking at the last week, it seems you're about 20 times more likely to be killed by a tornado or a hurricane than anthrax yet the news can't stop talking about anthrax. On that note, tonight I booked a vacation to Florida & Disney World for my family. My way protesting the terrorists, both Bin Laden and the media.

NeoGeoCD v0.2.6 Released
The daily update to NeoGeoCD is here! Here's what changed in the last couple releases (translated from Japanese):
  • v0.2.6: Changed part Since there was a case where a game could not be recognized, by the number restrictions of characters of a volume label by -Win9x, it is CD check. It is re-correction about a routine. Is it the same although written [ that data may differ and ] with the overseas edition and the Japanese version in the lower one? Since correspondence of a raster effect is begun, I think that it starts for a while till the next updating.
  • v0.2.5: Changed part -68K core is corrected. Opening A/B of the swordsman 2 of 月華 came to operate normally. Although it expected that other games were repaired ... It was useless (^-^; - program stopped comparison of the game name which it has inside. Since like [ when it is an overseas edition / differ and ].

Emulator Updates
Here's the latest emulators released over the last few days:Download them from the above links.

War on Terrorism
Because of the launch of the war on terrorism, I've been spending my time more wisely and haven't updated much. I'm playing catch-up in the above message with emulators released in the last few days (I don't know how these authors have the time to release code with such serious things going on). Anyway, I wish a billion or so Muslims and Arabs would not only express their damnation of the September 11th attacks but also a damnation of Bin Laden and other terrorist groups. Also, they should express their support of the United States, Britain, and other allied forces and FULLY SUPPORT their actions. It really sickens me that certain groups of people think this has anything to do with religion or race and even worse excuse terrorist actions based upon something totally unrelated like Palestine (which, by the way, the US doesn't support Israel occupying). With the exception of Pakistan, I'm really disappointed in the luke-warm support from other Arab nations. I would have never thought that Pakistan had it in them, but they're really showing their willingness to join the rest of the world instead of trying to isolate themselves like so many other Arab nations. Two thumbs up to Pakistan. Two thumbs down to Israel, Palestine, and Iraq (all expected). A thumb up and a thumb down to the other Arab countries (get your head out of the sand, literally). BTW, I'm NOT talking to those Muslims and Arabs that fully support the US, just to those that don't. I have no problem with Arabs and Muslims that support the international campaign on terrorism. I took my wife out to one of our favorite restaurants 2 nights ago, a local authentic Lebanese restaurant called The Beirut. The owner of this restaurant is one of the Muslim/Americans that I'm proud of, but I don't hear many giving the same unconditional anti-terrorism support that I would expect. I think some people need to pick a side, you can't sit on a fence in this one. [/rant]

Bin Laden's Evil Terrorist
The above article from this Netherlands news site proves what I've been saying for years, that Bert from Sesame Street is the seed of all evil. Go to the above link and look below the left ear of Bin Laden where it clearly shows that Bert is Bin Laden's right-hand man. Bert has infiltrated our society to such a level that he's on public TV everyday brainwashing our children. Ever notice how it always seems that Bert was unreasonable, irritated easily, and got angry quite often? We had many warning signs, but we refused for 30+ years to see them. The FBI has now reported that Bert was the key Bin Laden contact for the terrorist activities in the US. More news on this shocking story as it develops.

Update:
It seems that they censored the image on that Netherlands news site. But, I saved the original UNCENSORED image and you can view it here.

U64Emu2 v1.94 Released
It's been forever since there's been any U64Emu (KIAME) news. If you don't know, KIAME, or as it's now called U64Emu, is an arcade Killer Instinct emulator. Now U64Emu2 has been released which supports Killer Instinct II. What's kinda funny is that a version of KIAME that supported Killer Instinct II has been floating around for well over a year now (seems like 2 years to me). Anyway, this release, called U64Emu2, only supports KI2 and is available from the Arcade Emulators section.
