David Graves fixed a few problems with some Taito games that occurred with the core changes. Tatsuyuki Satoh fixed the speech in Rock 'n Rage. Zsolt Vasvari added scrolling to the cloud background and fixed the cloud colors in Phantom II. David Haywood also added Battle Bakraid to the Toaplan2 driver, but it lacks sound and has a few graphics glitches.
  • 2002-01-25: M.A.S.H. provided information on how to add Pirate Pete to the Jungle King driver. Aaron Giles fixed some problems with the 74123 emulator that appeared with the timer changes. Winter?
Is it really winter? It's almost the dead of winter and it was 60 degrees today. I road for hours on my motorcycle and wasn't cold a bit. Seems like everyone with a motorcycle was doing the same thing because I saw as many riders as I do in the summer. Lets hope it's at least 50 tomorrow so I can get another day of riding in.

    CPS1
    • Fixed some sprite wraparound bugs that still remained.
    GENERAL
    • Added sprite transparency support, using external tables. Read the Transparency.txt file to know more about them, and how to make your own tables. There are some tables included, but more will come, also if you want to share your tables, send them to me and I'll include them in the release.
    • Added 50% Frame Blend (and +scanlines) gfx renderer that removes flickering sprites making them transparent.
    • Fixed movie recording.

Kega v0.02 Released
The new Sega Genesis and SegaCD emulator for Windows was updated to v0.02. Here's what you get:
  • Added workaround for bug in Nero's WNASPI32.DLL (thanks to all who made me aware of this problem)
  • Added the "incorrectly named ROM" fix to the ZIP support also, forgot to do that last time ;-)
  • Rewrote a SegaCD fix - I discovered why Snatcher keeps pausing a long time ago (before Kega's first release), and fixed it. I told Stef and he fixed it in Gens too. The difference is, Stef's fix actually worked, and mine didn't, because of a stupid typo. Should be OK now.
  • MANY compatibility fixes - more games should now work.
  • Added YM SuperHQ mode. When this mode is selected, the sound rate will automatically change to 44100Hz, and my YM2612 core will go into SuperHQ mode. This is probably about as accurate as a YM2612 core can get at this present time (well, it will be once I finally get around to adding LFO support!) - the Sonic "signpost" sound is now accurate, for example. But this mode is probably (I haven't timed it...) a fair bit slower, so you should probably only enable it for games that need it, or if you really care about the odd sound not being *quite* right.

Great Bear Lodge
Over in Sandusky, Ohio (just down the street from Cedar Point, the best amusement park in the world) a huge lodge was built. Imagine a huge "Lincoln Logs" hotel. And even though it's 30 degrees outside, the family and I spent two days at a water park. I'm talking about Great Bear Lodge. I've never had a huge bucket dump 1,000 gallons of water on me from 40 feet in the air before, but it's a trip. Several water slides, a million dollar water fort, several pools, hot tubs, and best of all, they serve beer and other alcoholic drinks. The kids really loved it (and I admit I enjoyed it also). It's not cheap to stay there, but if you're heading to Cedar Point, you may want to drop a few coin and stay at Great Bear Lodge. It's an attraction of it's own. The place was at capacity in the middle of winter and numerous people we talked to drove 3-5 hours to get there. Anyway, check it out at the above link.
