PS3 takes UK record for fastest selling console
Certain commentators have condemned Sony's PS3 UK launch as a disaster, with talk of low turnouts and consoles sitting on shelves. It seems though the bottom line gives lie to that, with respected sales research organisation Chart Track registering approximately 165,000 units sold in the first two days, beating the Wii's UK record by some 60,000 units. That means that three quarters of the UK's launch allocation of 220,000 units has already been snapped up.
No doubt the accuracy of the figures will be fuel to many a forthcoming fanboy debate, but it is worth pointing out that Chart Track are claiming "sold" as opposed to "shipped" - Sony had already said they'd shipped 220,000. Perhaps a more reliable indication can be found in the UK all-format game charts, where PS3 titles have taken six of the top-ten slots, with Resistance and Motorstorm taking first and second position respectively.
It seems Sony may, at last, got the launch they've craved so badly since they released the PS3. Now it remains to be seen whether they can keep the momentum going, and inject a little of the UK's enthusiasm into other markets.

Opera's Wii Internet Channel delayed until April
March 22, 2007 - Opera Software and Nintendo have announced that the final version of the Internet Channel for Wii will now be available sometime during April of 2007, rather than during March as previously promised.
The two companies are working closely to "finalise what promises to be the ultimate Web surfing experience on the Wii console." In order to enhance the overall Wii Web experience, part of the additional work being done since the debut of the beta version late last year has been fulfilling the requests of users.
Nintendo has revealed that among the improvements will be better zooming and scrolling, better zoomed font, shortened startup times, quicker access to favourites, the ability to hide the toolbar, and the presence of shortcut buttons like 'www' and '.com'.
The browser will remain free to download until the end of June, and after that, users who haven't grabbed it will be able to do so for 500 Wii points. An exact launch date is unknown.

Nintendo Wii top selling console in February
LOS ANGELES, March 15 (Reuters) - Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s Wii was the best-selling video game console in the United States in February, console makers said on Thursday, citing sales results from market research firm NPD.
Consumers bought 335,000 Wii consoles and 127,000 of Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 3 consoles in February. Both systems debuted in November, and the Wii is priced at $250, compared with the $600 top-end version of the PS3.
Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360, which came out in November 2005, sold 228,000 units, making it the second-biggest selling console in February.
With their new consoles, the three companies are in a fierce battle for dominance in the $13 billion U.S. video game market.
Retailers sold 295,000 PlayStation 2 consoles, the best-selling console of the last cycle.

Confirmed: Rumble coming back to PS3 in God of War III
At least it appears so. It's been on the cards since Sony and Immersion kissed and made up, resolving Immersion's patent violation complaints with a deal that included an agreement to work together on future projects. Now we're told by the developer, Ready At Dawn, that the third installment of their highly-rated "God of War" series will be coming to PS3, and will include vibration support, as well as 1080p graphics.
- While details are still unfolding at the event, so far Cory Barlog of developer Ready At Dawn has revealed that the next God of War game will be on the PS3. He also said that it will feature 1080p high definition graphics, and will also feature SIXAXIS and vibration support. Does this mean Sony are bringing back the vibration to the PS3 controller? It certainly seems like all signs point to yes.
The removal of vibration from the PS3's controller has been a frequent complaint of the machine's critics, it looks like there may soon be one less thing for them to whinge about.

Raine 0.50.3 Released!
A new version of the arcade emulator Raine is here. Here is what is new in this release:
Added support for a frogger hack which adds hiscore table
The rom should be renamed as froggs.zip.
The permanent ram is saved on disk, no hiscore.dat update required.
Emudx support works also for this one (it doesn't change anything in the
game).
A little fix for the hiscores : They were loaded too late to be shown on
the first screen of dkong (it starts by the hiscore table). So they are
now loaded at the begining of the emulation and you see correctly the
hiscore table in dkong now.
The cheats.cfg file now supports a new syntax for clones with the same
cheats, it makes the file 1/3 smaller (why didn't we do that earlier ???)
Added donkey kong foundry (dkongex) donkey kong hack
Linux: Fixed fbcon support when using a driver which allows to change the
video mode like matroxfb or nvidiafb : these drivers require a special
handling in sdl to avoid a crash. Advice : use 16bpp at least for fbcon if
you want to use raine with that, or expect a strange looking gui...
Added galaxian, super galaxian, and galaxian part X, with emudx support.
The original sound is not emulated for now, so you'd better use emudx
samples if you want sound !
Editable cheats, usually to select the game stage, are supported again.
the raine emulator supports a wide array of effects and other enhancements, go try it out, you might enjoy it

Import GameCube Games on Wii
Have an Import GC game you want to play on your brand new Wii? Nintendo World shows a way to do it with out a Mod chip.
- MaxConsole forum member, dolqube, discovered a method for booting GameCube games from other regions on Wii without resorting to boot discs or modchips. The trick allows booting of any NTSC game on any NTSC system (Japanese games on US systems and vice-versa) as well as booting NTSC games on PAL systems. PAL games on NTSC systems will not work. As of now, the trick appears to work on all firmware versions.
1000 PS2 Games on the PS3
That's what Sony is promising when the system launches on the 23 of March in the Europe section.
- The situation is changing everyday, but on March 23, we expect the list to include over 1000 PS2 titles," revealed Harrison, in an interview on Sony's semi-official blog ThreeSpeech.
How many games are there for the PS2?
