Visual Pinmame Version 1.57 System 1 Released
The year is 1987, and NASA launches the last of America's deep space probes.
In a freak mishap, Ranger 3 and its pilot, Captain William "Buck" Rogers
are blown out of their trajectory into an orbit which freezes his life support
systems and returns Buck Rogers to Earth 500 years later.
We had begun to think it would take 500 years to emulate Gottlieb System 1...
But thanks to an anonymous MAACA member, we finally got good reads of the
bios chips and they are now emulated.
Get our your cards and backgammon boards, lucky Buck is back!
1.57 - Changes Twiki says you don't want to know
Added Stern Speech emulation - sample files are no longer necessary
Added Gottlieb System 1 emulation - still has a bonus count bug
Added Inder Lap By Lap
Added support for Stern's "Harley Davidson 3rd Edition"
Improved GI Dimming support and NBA Fastbreak Shot Clock
= Removed need for Early Stern Samples

Sony PS3 Outsells Nintendo Wii In Japan For The First Time Since Launch
'Monthly sales of Sony's PlayStation 3 in Japan topped the Nintendo Wii for the first time since the gaming consoles debuted late last year, according to a November survey.
In the four weeks ending Nov. 25, Sony Corp. sold 183,217 PS3s in Japan, while Nintendo Co. sold 159,193 Wii consoles, market researcher Enterbrain reported Friday.
Sony slashed the price of the PS3 with a 20-gigabyte hard drive by about 10 percent to 44,980 yen ($409) from 49,980 yen ($454). Another model, with a 60-gigabyte drive, saw its price fall from 60,000 yen ($545) to 54,980 yen ($500).'
The PS3 price cut, coupled with Nintendo not being able to keep up with demand for the Wii means that Sony tops the Japanese home console charts for a month, but will it last?
The Wii has sold 3.78 Million since its debut in Japan & the PS3 has sold a surprisingly small amount in comparison - 1.45 million, but spare a thought for poor old Mircosoft, they have yet to break a million sales in Japan with just 0.5 million Xbox 360s sold.

Video Game Giants In $18bn Merger
The BBC are reporting that Activision and Blizzard are merging in a deal worth a gargantuan $18.8.
'Activision was formed in 1979 and went through bankruptcy and a series of alliances and mergers before becoming successful.
Blizzard had been through a number of owners before ending up in the hands of Vivendi in 1998.
As part of the merger plan, Blizzard will invest $2bn in the new company, while Activision is putting up $1bn.
The merged business will be called Activision Blizzard and its chief executive will be Activision's current CEO Bobby Kotick. Vivendi will be the biggest shareholder in the group. '
With other publishers reporting huge loses this year, Activsion seem to be going from strength to strength & who knows what titles this merger could bring... World of Guitar Hero anybody?

NDSemuME 0.4.0
DeSmuME is a freeware emulator for the Nintendo DS created by YopYop156. DeSmuME is also known as YopYop DS is written in C++ for Microsoft Windows and can play Nintendo DS homebrew and commercial nds roms. The emulator its self is in French (with user translations to English and other languages). But even French version of DeSmuME is easy to navigate through menus as it has a similar users interface to DSemu. It supports many homebrew nds rom demoes as well as a handful of Wireless Multiboot demo nds roms. DeSmuME is also able to emulate some of the commercial nds rom titles which other DS Emulators like iDeaS and Dualis aren't capable of doing so.
Corrected bug in the 3D
Corrected a bug in the menu
Added the function Open and Execute
Improved the speed of execution (of 2 fps)
Reduced the key rom In the source; Corrected of the bug that did not allow to execute the emulator
DeSmuME version number has changed to 0.4.0 instead of continuing to 0.3.8 to avoid confusion it seems and also Normmatt said his final release will be 0.5.0 so we may be looking at possibly 10 or more releases from him.

Daredevil Evel Knievel dies at 69
You can check out some of his best jumps above in tribute to a fallen hero. Ironically, I just watched HotRod with my son today, probably just as he was passing. Spooky.
