Hu-Go! v1.22 Released
Hu-Go! is a TurboGrafx 16 emulator for DOS and Linux. This release adds the following:
This version features the brand new subtitle possibility. You'll be able to have your cd games with subtitle once the correct hcd done. I've also added a bit of speed and put a skin from top50 of the site power3d. The repeat flag for cd audio playing have been implemented with MP3 playback and I've added some features for developpers (satb viewer and some feature of the disassembler). Added scanline selection mode in the INI (no more only on command line) and I've put again the zip support in the fileselector but it's still a bit buggy... The accompagning rom have been changed to a bigger one that I've coded as an example for the HuC Pc Engine C Compiler. Graphics have been especially made for it by Pit.
Download it from the Console Emulation section.

Genital v0.2 Released
Genital is a new Sega Genesis emulator for DOS. While it's only the second release, it's already quite good. Download it from the Console Emulation section. Thanks to Geoshock for the news.

Corn v0.29 Released!
As promised, this excellent and fast Nintendo 64 emulator was updated to version 0.29. This version adds support for the following games:
  • Chameleon Twist (with sound)
  • Pawafuru Puroyakyu 4 (with sound)
  • Waverace 64 US (with sound)
  • Snowboard Kids (with sound)
  • Rush 2 (with sound)
  • Doom 64 (severe graphics glitches)
  • Milo's Astro Lanes (partially)
  • Wheel of fortune (partially)
  • Possibly others
Note that this release changes some of the core files, but the GUI is the same. Therefore, the version will still say v0.2 but the core I assure you is v0.29. Also, the archive on this site is the complete package, not just the upgraded files that most sites are offering. The author states: "A new engine needs to be implemented for compatibility. So I release this zipfile as the last version using Corn engine #2." Which means that v0.29 is the last version we'll see until he rewrites the engine to gain additional compatibility. Also note this from the author:
However, GASP, Mace the dark age, Olympic hockey and W. Gretzky's 3D Hockey 98 no longer work with corn0.29. Within the frame of current engine, I cannot keep all of them run at the same time supporting new games. Hopefully this awkwardness can be solved with the new Corn engine.
Because of this, version 0.2 is still available for download. Anyway, enough with the chit-chat, go download it from the Nintendo 64 section.

What do you do on a VERY slow couple of emulation news days? Well, work on something you've been meaning to do for some time of course. If you want to discuss the new design or tell me your thoughts, visit the Message Boards.

PS2 Slapped with Export Controls
The Sony Playstation 2 (PS2) has sold like hotcakes in Japan. And Sony was planning to start exporting them to other countries shortly. However, Japan has slapped export controls on the console because of its power and ability to be used as the brain of a missile. This isn't so far fetched either, considering "a Japanese radar and communications devices for civilian use were discovered in a North Korean submarine sunk by the South Korean military in December 1998." Sony makes a mint off their Playstation line and I'm sure they'll try to fight it. This is yet the latest blow to the PS2 which has seen many other problems with its Japanese introduction. Read the above story for all the news. Thanks to Magnet Eye and Jeff for the news.

GeekNews is a really cool site with really cool news for geeks (yea, like you, admit it). If you haven't checked them out before, what are you waiting for? Wish them a happy birthday also.

Welcome Back Geoshock!
After about a month of downtime, Geoshock has returned! You know what you want, now go get it. =)

Happy 2nd Birthday Retrogames
I'd like to wish Retrogames a happy 2nd birthday. To celebrate his 2nd birthday, atila has gone totally religious on us and changed the site name to Retrojesus. I don't quite understand the new format, but I never really did understand a site that talks mostly about Dreamcast, PSX, and porn, but is called Retrogames. Anyway, check it out, at the above link, it's definitely interesting.
